1. What services does Fractional Execs on Demand (FEOD) offer?
FEOD offers business consulting services to small and mid-market companies in all of the major functional business areas. These areas include Sales, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Operations and Information Technology. Additionally, FEOD provides “fractional” (part-time) executives to manage these and other functions.
2. What makes Fractional Execs on Demand stand out from other consulting firms?
All of FEOD’s Executive Partners have big company management experience as well as “hands-on” C-Level experience managing in small to mid-market company environments. FEOD clients benefit from the abilities of its Executive Partners to tailor their big company management experience to appropriately fit (and not exaggerate) solutions and improvements to small and mid-market businesses. Additionally, these Executive Partners have significant experience working with and for entrepreneurial, founder and family management. Other consulting firms usually do not have a commitment to and focus on small and mid-market companies and their staff usually does not have the range of practical “boots on the ground” experience that FEOD Executive Partners bring.
3. How is the approach of Fractional Execs on Demand tailored to the needs of mid-market companies?
Entrepreneurs, founders, family management and senior leadership in small and mid-market companies have an aversion to “know-it-all” jargon and “corporate-speak” and they are not necessarily looking for “help” – after all they have already built a successful business. Instead, they are looking for genuine business partners with ideas and systems that contribute to and enhance stability around what the founding leadership and management want to do; around their ideas and inventions; around the business concept that has made them successful. Executive Partners have all journeyed through small and mid-size company experiences. They have strong aptitudes to find and listen in on the proper frequency to navigate more quickly and with greater clarity towards problem solving.
4. How involved are clients in the FEOD consulting process?
Consistent with FAQ 3 above and FEOD’s process that begins with “Listen”, the client is very much front and center at the beginning of the FEOD process. The process begins with an FEOD Executive Partner asking the client, “Tell us what’s been happening and what you think the issue is” versus asserting, “From what we’ve heard it looks like these things are the problem”. Naturally, downstream, FEOD works with the client to analyze and solve the challenge at hand and will present its findings to ownership and management objectively based on facts for input and discussion.
5. What is the experience level of FEOD Executive Partners?
FEOD Executive Partners have early career experience in large company environments in their respective disciplines. They have seen how far their functional area can evolve in a resource rich large company environment; they have seen the “north star” so to speak so they have that reference point in their repertoire. At some point FEOD Executive Partners transitioned to C-Level roles in small and mid-market companies. They understand that most emerging small and mid-market companies do not have the people or resources at the time to achieve a “north star”. These executives are skilled at understanding when and how to apply strategies and tactics that are sized right to remediate the business issue at hand AND improve the company’s overall performance in a specific function or functions. FEOD Executive Partners have a high level of experience and the sense to form well fitted solutions.
6. What types of businesses benefit the most from the services offered by Fractional Execs on Demand?
Small to mid-market companies that sell products or services are the kinds of companies that FEOD consults with and in which its fractional executives have experience working. The company’s consulting services do not extend to banks or other kinds of financial services businesses.
7. Can FEOD assist with the adoption of technology and digital transformation?
Absolutely. Often, small and mid-market companies want to adopt technology on a “first” and “fast” basis hoping for significant operational cost savings for doing so. This is not a given. FEOD Executive Partners who have witnessed the adoption and expansion of technology resources in big companies know how to evaluate the smaller client company’s readiness for technology and “fit” that company with the most appropriate technology solution.
8. How is success measured by FEOD? When would you say, ''We did a good job''.
FEOD considers it a good job when both the issue they were called to work on has been remediated and/or solved and the company has a reliable process in place to overcome and continually eliminate the conditions that gave rise to the assignment. In short, when a client is self-sufficient FEOD has done its job. We say, “Our Fractions Make Companies Whole”.
